Coverage is the first constraint in any collection engagement. An allocation that is not segmented tends to be worked in the order it arrives, which means high-value and reachable accounts receive the same attention as dormant, untraceable ones.
Segmenting by ageing, ticket size and location allows field effort to be concentrated where a visit changes the outcome, while calling handles the remainder of the base. The result is not more effort, it is better distributed effort across the same headcount.
Reviewing coverage weekly rather than at month-end also matters. A gap identified in week one can still be corrected; the same gap discovered on the 28th cannot.
